Oakley meets Jack

Oakley was so excited to see us when we got home from the hospital (like usual).  We brought Jack in the house in his car seat and let Oakley check out the new family member.  Oakley gave Jack's face a sniff, and he seemed pretty happy with Jack.  Brandon brought one of Jack's blankets home for Oakley to sniff the day before, so Oakley would be familiar with the scent.  Everything went great during this first meeting!  It won't be long before Oakley and Jack are best friends!

It's a Boy!

On June 14th at 3:56am, we welcomed Jack Thomas Swann to the world!

Here's how our birth experience went:

On June 13th (8 days before our due date), we went to the hospital for our weekly checkup at 10am.  During the visit, we had an ultrasound that showed low fluid.  Our doctor said it would be best to induce labor that day, so we checked ourselves into the hospital and began the induction process.  They started me on pitocin and broke my water around 12:30pm.

Although we were in the hospital for many hours, it seemed to go by pretty fast.

I spent several hours watching the contractions come and go.

I got an epidural around 7:30pm, and we entered the pushing phase around 2:30am.

At 3:56am, Jack was born at 6 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches.

We were able to stay 2 nights in the hospital, and the first night didn't count since Jack was born after midnight.

On June 16th, which was Father's Day, we were discharged (3 days after our doctor appointment began).

Nursery Update

We are just about ready for Baby Swann to arrive.

Belly Picture Update

As of today, we are 9 weeks away from the due date.  My pregnancy app estimates the baby to be 18 inches and 3.2 pounds.  And he or she is moving around a lot these days!

We made it to 20 weeks, and we are halfway through the pregnancy.  Yay!

Nursery

We have been making progress on getting the nursery ready for Baby Swann.  Since we are not finding out the gender, we picked a neutral teal color for the walls.  Brandon did a great job with all of the painting :)

Oakley is not sure what is going on.

It took two coats of paint to get a nice solid color.

The painting is finished!

We put blue tape on the carpet so we could determine where the furniture might fit.

It took several weeks for the paint to air out, but we were finally able to set up the furniture.

It is starting to feel like a real room again.

Baby Swann

Baby Swann is due June 21, 2013.  We are not finding out the gender ahead of time, so it will be a fun surprise for everyone! :)
